KIA introduces Sportage SX with a turbo engine at the Montreal Auto Show

After a complete redesign the Sportage welcomes the introduction of an all-new 2.0L tubocharged and direct injected 4-cylinder engine. The new engine is part of a new trim called SX, which will sit at the top of the Sportage range.

The Kia Sportage SX will be on display at the Montreal International Auto Show, which opens today.

Pricing and more information after the jump.

The all-new 2.0L Turbo Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine features a twin-scroll turbocharger for excellent low-end torque, which peaks between 1850-3000rpm.

Oddly enough Kia has not released power ratings for the new engine but 270 horsepower is not unreasonable. The new engine will be mated to a Kia designed and built 6-speed automatic transmission. The transmission features “Neutral Control,” which shifts the transmission into neutral while stuck in traffic (in ‘D range’ and with brakes applied for more than 2 seconds). To avoid roll back the system works with Hill Assist Control.

In addition to the more powerful engine the Sportage SX will include push button start, a panoramic sunroof, 18” inch alloy wheels, driver ventilated seat, UVO Infotainment System, leather seating, auto dimming mirrors with home link and a rear spoiler.

The Sportage SX is priced at $36,995, $3,800 more than the naturally-aspirated EX Luxury. Expect it to go on sale later this spring.
